A few years ago, I had the extreme pleasure of working with a corporate professional from Canada's west coast. During our coaching sessions, a transformation of confidence and clarity of vision directly impacted and exponentially changed the outlook of this focused and assertive woman.
Here is her letter:
Paula,
Life is great, well now anyway. Upon completion of our year working together, I became much more conscious in how I am in control of my life. I bravely grabbed ahold of the reigns and finally made some much needed decisions that start a ripple effect of so many WONDERFUL things that I was dreaming would happen. We have spoken so many times of how our perception of our current situation can have such a firm grip, literally holding us back from the potential that we could be living. I am forever grateful for the nudges and the swift kick once in a while too!
I can see how you completely and totally moved me through and out of a period of not trusting my own instinct and leadership capabilities to where I am today. I am so thrilled to say that although challenging many times, I feel as though I have finally found my groove once again ... but even better. I feel as though I am leading much more effectively while honouring my vision, passion and goals for where I want to go and how I am going to get there. My career feels brand new with a breath of fresh air again.
Thanks for helping me to light the candle again. It's burning bright!

WHEN ITS TIME TO WALK AROUND
Are you the type of person who always seems to get themselves into the same type of situation, over and over again? It might be relationships woes, financial burdens, disappointing work environment, poor decision making and the list goes on.
Instead of falling into the same hole time and time again, maybe you need to figure out another way. Learning to pivot and move beyond barriers instead of creating new ones is a great goal to work towards.
What hole are you heading toward that you need to be careful not to fall in? Stop.
Get your bearings and maybe take a step back or find a new path.

WHEN PEACE COMES
Often times what might make sense in your head eventually moves into what your intuition tells you, allowing your heart to take over. When struggling with decisions and with the pressures of life, you might need to take a step back and check in to what your heart is feeling.
When you are living life in conflict to what your heart is telling you, it will never be smooth or fulfilling. I have come to learn that peace is a treasured gift. Not easily come by and not easily held onto. Work hard for it and be diligent about protecting it as being in a place of peace is a place where people work a life time to get to.

THE MOMENT
Change is often painful and hard. Making decisions that you feel in your heart are often times held back because your head continues to doubt your intuition. The best way to move yourself forward out of any situation is to make the decision that change is in fact the best way forward.
If you need to change some things about your work or your life, there is no time like the present to decide that it needs to happen.
Getting out of our way usually 90% of the battle!

A LESSON ON ATTITUDE
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life".
Attitude to me, is more important than the facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, that what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company....a church... a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot chance our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.....
I am convinced that life is 10% what happense to me and 90% how I react to it". This is an old post by Charcles Swindoll that I really like.
Do you agree with these thoughts? Happy Friday!

POSITIVE SELF TALK
A little positive self talk can go a long way.
It is amazing how our attitude and those voices nudging in our head can either send us into a tail spin of worry, dread and fear or motivate us into action and renewed energy, with excitement, hope and love.
I guesss the only thing we have to do is choose which side of that self talk we want to be on? Belief in oneself and the courage to keep pressing through is a daily event and for some hourly.
Building positive behaviours of our belief in self and our internal dialogue is the best defense against negativity and self doubt.
Kick those I cant's to the curb and say I will.
Wishing you a great day. I know, I will!
